The Ampersand – Review

The Ampersand is a boutique hotel in South Kensington, a stones throw away from the V&A, Natural History Museum and Royal Albert Hall. It has 111 rooms and suites, a gym and two informal dining rooms serving modern Mediterranean food and afternoon tea.

On the day of our stay we enjoyed a leisurely stroll around Hyde Park, before walking down Museum Row, leading downto a selection of chic cafes and restaurants.

The hotel sits only moments from the South Kensington underground, blending in seamslessly with the grand edwardian surroundings.

After a lond day walking we were delighted by our huge deluxe bedroom which boasted a sumptious double bed with luxurious oversize velvet headboards, and ceiling-to-floor silk curtains in subtle hues. Rooms are tranquil and cosy with high ceilings and dove-gray walls and splashes of sumptuous purple.

The bathroom – stocked with Miller and Harris products also hit a design note for me with the combination of black and white textures – shiny black wall tiles against matt white floor tiles.

Guests can also dine in the underground vaults of Apero with its Mediterranean-influenced menu or take tea (or Champagne!) in the comfort of  The Drawing Rooms.
