London Bridge City will host London’s largest free festival, transforming the iconic riverside location into a summer haven and a hub of not-to-be-missed live entertainment, food and drink all summer long.
Running from Wednesday 1 June until Monday 31 October 2016, the London Bridge City Summer Festival presents live music 6 days a week, after work DJ sessions, free fitness and dance classes, street performances, live theatre, a big screen showing blockbuster films and all of the summer’s sporting events including Wimbledon and the Olympics, plus the return of the tropical pop up food and drink experience, London Riviera. Located across London Bridge City, the festival will be the greatest destination for summer fun seekers, food and cocktail aficionados, music lovers, movie fans, fitness fanatics, and everyone in between.
With four entertainment hubs spread across the riverside, there will be an extensive schedule of live entertainment running seven days a week from 10am until 10pm. With swing and salsa dancing classes on Monday’s, free outdoor cinema on Tuesday’s which includes screenings of Harry Potter, Top Gun, Fame, Labyrinth, a hand-picked line-up from BBC Radio’s Introducing hosted by Gary Crowley broadcast live, as well as some of London’s finest independent artists performing live on Wednesday through to Sunday.
Each Friday night, the London Bridge City Summer Festival will also host to the capital’s biggest mass karaoke event – MASSAOKE! A live rock band playing everyone’s favourite anthems from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, all the words on the big screen, and everyone in the crowd singing together! The perfect way to kick off every weekend.
With a host of special events and exclusive appearances lined up across the summer, one of the many highlights will include a performance from Addictive TV. Responsible for mind-bending live entertainment, the British electronic TV duo create music that will be visualised on the big screen and will be doing an exclusive performance on Thursday 23 June at 6.30pm.
As recently seen on Dragons’ Den and Call the Midwife, The Swing Patrol, London’s hottest swing dancing troupe will be offering taster lessons and Jitterbug competitions throughout the summer. Festivalgoers can also join Havana Londres for legendary afternoons of Cuban Salsa and Rueda – as well as other alfresco fitness classes such as Zumba, Street Dancing, Capoeira, Spinning and sun rise Yoga.
For music aficionados, the London Bridge City Summer Festival will be the official London host of International Music Day (Fête de la Musique) on Tuesday 21 June. There will be acoustic acts and DJs throughout the day, culminating with live bands playing music from around the world on the main stage from 6pm.
In addition to the endless entertainment, the London Riviera pop-up bar and kitchen will be returning for its second year serving up delicious cocktails, Meantime beer and incredible street food.Decked out with sun loungers, palm trees, exotic cocktails, delicious street food, and its signature flamingos – this will be the best place to experience summer in London this year.
