Fade adult acne

One of my favourite skincare brands, Dermalogica, launched a new spot fighting power duo which I’ve been testing.

AGE Bright Clearing Serum

First up is the new Age Bright Clearing Serum, a 2 in 1 active and highly concentrated serum to help clear up breakouts and brighten the complexion.

What makes it so good?

It contains Salicylic Acid, which accelerates cell turn over, a process that slows down with age and causes congestion in the pores. This helps clear breakouts and reduce the signs of ageing. Another powerhouse ingredient for combating spots is Niacinamide, which works together with White Shiitake Mushroom to promote brighter, more even skin tone.

The AGE Bright Complex is a blend of active and essential oils that work with the skin’s natural microbiome to promote clearer, brighter skin – Terpineol (isolated from Pinus Sylvestris, or Pine Oil) and Thymol (from Thymus Vulgaris, or Thyme) help reduce P. acnes and sebum while Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) helps reduce visible skin ageing by fading post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation marks and scars.

How do you use it?

Apply a thin layer onto a cleansed face before moisturiser, once or twice daily.

If using Retin-a products, like I do, use either on the evenings you aren’t using Retin-a or in the mornings after. Don’t use both together at the same time.

How did it work for me?

I have sensitive, breakout prone skin so I’m always looking for that balance of something that will be powerful enough to do what it claims to, as well as be soothing and kind to my poor reactive skin. With this serum I found that. Often, harshes acne and pigmentation products cause redness, dryness and irritation, however the AGE Bright serum made my skin feel comfortable and calm while proving to show results after a couple of weeks of continued use. I felt my skin texture was more even, and redness and dark spots where I had lingering acne scars were slowly fading. I have now used a full bottle and in order to keep seeing results will definitely need to invest in another!
