Review: Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude

Last year, the new Double Wear Nude Water Fresh foundation had so much hype (and some not so great reviews) because its name would make users compare it to the OG Double Wear which will forever be a holy grail. Read on to see my thoughts after having worn it for a good few months now…

This Double Wear version is much lighter, offers less coverage, but makes skin feel and look like skin with an impressive non-oily finish all day.

Similar to the original, the new Double Wear Nude Water Fresh Makeup delivers an even-toned, flawless complexion that withstands the heat and promises to last 24 hours! I haven’t found that to be too true – granted it lasts most of the day (6 hours I’d say) but I haven’t had the need to trial it for a full 24 hours.

I have oily skin and find that this suits my skin’s needs by keeping it semi-matte (definitely still glowing) but non-drying. Its hyaluronic acid blend (a moisture complex of red fruit extracts, including watermelon, lychee seed and apple) will infuse the skin with hydration to boost moisture levels while it smooths out fine lines, so it’s not just ideal for those with an oilier complexion, those with drier skin types can reap the benefits of this refreshing gel formula too. I also love the added SPF 30!

I find it goes on well with fingers, or  a dense foundation brush, but not as well with a beauty blender as it tends to suck up some of the product.  The consistency is pretty runny and the lack of pump means this can cause a bit of a mess – so be careful when tipping this out!

Coverage wise this offers buildable, medium coverage – because of this it’s one I keep for days when my skin isn’t breaking out.

Overall I’m impressed with this foundation and think it deserves it’s place next to the OG double wear – totally different but totally holy grail worthy.
